![]() I always like to have some extra width so I can shift the fret board around a little bit to get the nicest grain orientation and avoid any ugly along the edges. It really depends on the billet and what type of saw you'll be using to re-saw it how wide the kerf is and how straight the cuts are. ![]() I think, depending on how the billet looks, I might cut one slice 2-1/3" wide from the best looking side, and then cut the remaining ~3" wide billet into four or possibly five more fretboards.Ĭutting it that way, depending on the grain orientation, might give you 4 flatsawn boards and 1 quarter-sawn board or vice-versa. ![]() As already mentioned, 2-1/3" is cutting it mighty close, you might have as much as an 1/8" to work with on a Tele fret board. ![]()
